SEAFDEC Uplifts Skills of Technical and Information Staff in Writing Articles for Fish for the People

The “Workshop on Writing Articles for Fish for the People” was organized by the SEAFDEC Secretariat on 19 March 2025 in a hybrid mode. The Workshop was attended on-site by the SEAFDEC Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General, senior officials and technical and information officers from the SEAFDEC Secretariat, as well as Regional Fisheries Policy Network members. Moreover, the participants from the SEAFDEC Departments, namely: Marine Fisheries Research Department (MFRD), Aquaculture Department (AQD), Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (MFRDMD), and Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD) also attended the Workshop online. The Workshop was aimed at enhancing the writing skills of technical and information staff from the SEAFDEC Secretariat and Departments.

The resource person of the Workshop was the Technical Writer/Editor from the SEAFDEC Secretariat, Dr. Shiela Villamor Chumchuen, who shared relevant information on technical writing including tools, guides, and tips. During the Workshop, the participants learned about the practical tools for writing and publishing excellent articles for Fish for the People as well as ethical and impactful writing.  In addition, the participants also improved their skill in writing outstanding news articles for the SEAFDEC Newsletter.

Fish for the People is a Special Publication of SEAFDEC featuring technical articles on the achievements of SEAFDEC projects and activities recognized by various stakeholders as a significant source of information. The publication is written in layperson language targeting the general public and supported by the Japanese Trust Fund.
