SEAFDEC signs MOUs with Universitas Airlangga, University of Diponegoro in Indonesia

SEAFDEC, led by its Secretary-General, Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SEAFDEC and Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga (FPK-UNAIR) on 4 June 2025 in Surabaya, Indonesia for a 5-year collaboration. Subsequently, another MOU was signed on 5 June 2025 between SEAFDEC and Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Diponegoro (FPIK UNDIP) in Semarang, Indonesia.

The two MOUs aim to promote collaboration between SEAFDEC and FPK-UNAIR and FPIK UNDIP toward sustainable fisheries and aquaculture on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. The areas of cooperation include exchange of academic staff, administrative staff, and students; joint research in the field of mutual interests; sharing of research and academic information and publications; and other research and academic activities to which both Parties agree. After the singing of the respective MOUs, the Parties discussed the areas of cooperation including short-term training and internship programs for university students at SEAFDEC, exchange of researchers or participation of university staff in some technical activities of SEAFDEC, and other collaborative technical activities of mutual interests.

The signing ceremonies and discussions were attended by the Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Andi Soesmono; Project Planning and Management Division Head of the Training Department, Mr. Isara Chanrachkij; Policy and Program Coordinator of the SEAFDEC Secretariat, Dr. Worawit Wanchana; and Information Program Coordinator of the SEAFDEC Secretariat, Ms. Nualanong Tongdee.
