The SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Ms. Sampan Panjarat extended a welcome to the Project Director for Agriculture and Food Cluster of GIZ, Thailand, Ms. Pouchamarn Wongsanga, on 10 November 2025, at SEAFDEC Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ms. Sampan expressed her gratitude to GIZ for the financial contribution to SEAFDEC to strengthen regional capacity to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and promote safe, fair, and sustainable fisheries in Southeast Asia. To commence this new collaboration, SEAFDEC has signed the Grant Agreement with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with a grant contribution up to 150,000 Euros to implement the project “Strengthening Regional Capacity to Combat IUU Fishing and Promote Safe, Fair and Sustainable Fisheries in Southeast Asia,” starting from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2027. This project is expected to raise awareness and enhance capacity by delivering practical workshops and facilitating information exchange on combating IUU fishing in Southeast Asia.
