SEAFDEC Participates in the 34th Governing Council Meeting of NACA

The Secretary-General of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), Dr. Suttinee Limthammhisorn, accompanied by Mr. Worawit Wanchana, Policy and Program Coordinator, participated in the 34th Governing Council Meeting of the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), held from 3 to 5 July 2025 in Wuxi, China.

The Meeting was hosted by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), People’s Republic of China, and organized by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fisheries Science (CAFS).

The Governing Council Meeting brought together representatives from NACA Member Governments, NACA’s Regional Lead Centers, and international partners to review progress of the NACA work program, address priority issues, and discuss future directions for enhancing sustainable aquaculture development across Asia-Pacific.

During the discussions, SEAFDEC reaffirmed its commitment to regional collaboration and emphasized the importance of building synergies between SEAFDEC and NACA, particularly in areas such as aquatic animal health, climate change adaptation, sustainable aquaculture technologies, capacity building, and reducing fish loss and waste. SEAFDEC also highlighted the need to strengthen linkages between research, policy, and practice to support food security and sustainable livelihoods in the region.

The Meeting acknowledged the valuable contributions of SEAFDEC to regional aquaculture initiatives and welcomed continued collaboration between the two organizations in pursuit of shared goals.
