SEAFDEC Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center
The SEAFDEC Secretariat organized the “Inter-Departmental Workshop on the Preparation of SEASOFIA 2027” on 5–6 August 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Workshop was attended by the SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General, and senior officials, Department Chiefs, and SEASOFIA focal persons from the SEAFDEC Secretariat, Training Department, Marine Fisheries Research Department, Aquaculture Department, Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department, and Inland Fishery Resource Development and Management Department.
The Workshop discussed the draft outline of the Southeast Asian State of Fisheries and Aquaculture (SEASOFIA) 2027as well as the structure and content of the inputs of the respective Departments. Moreover, the draft questionnaire was developed during the Workshop, which will be utilized to gather additional information from the ASEAN Member States (AMSs) that will be included in SEASOFIA 2027. The outline and questionnaire, after being thoroughly reviewed again by the respective Departments, will be submitted to the Forty-eighth Program Committee Meeting (48PCM) for comments, after which an official letter with the questionnaire will be issued to the AMSs. With the first issue in 2012 and subsequently published every five years, SEASOFIA provides a better understanding of the status and trends of fisheries and aquaculture in the region. The SEASOFIA 2027, which is the fourth in a series, is expected to be published in April 2027.
