SEAFDEC launches 2026 RFPN Program

SEAFDEC welcomed the first batch of Regional Fisheries Policy Network (RFPN) members for 2026 for a 1-year term at its Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. The six RFPN 2026 members, each nominated by their respective ASEAN Member States (AMSs), are Ms. Devi Setya Rini from Indonesia, Mr. Khamhou Thongsamouth from Lao PDR, Ms.  Nay Chi Cho Linn from Myanmar, Mr. Jay-ar Pol Mahinay from the Philippines, Mr. Chairat Bamrungsook from Thailand, and Mr. Vu Van Tam from Viet Nam. The RFPN program aimed to strengthen regional and sub-regional cooperation in fisheries policy among AMSs.

During the Introduction of the 2026 RFPN Program on 16 January 2026, each RFPN member presented their diverse technical backgrounds and practical experience across various fisheries areas, ranging from inland to marine resource assessment and management. Their multidisciplinary background includes aquaculture, capture fisheries, bioecology, the environment, marine fishing vessels, fisheries management, food safety, and post-harvest management, as well as related disciplines. RFPN members expect to gain new knowledge and skills, experience cultural exchange, build strong networking as well as friendship to strengthen cooperation across regions, and support SEAFDEC’s work on regional fisheries policy. Furthermore, RFPN members also had an opportunity to present their topic articles and work plans throughout the year.

On a concluding note, the Secretary-General of SEAFDEC, Ms. Sampan Panjarat highlighted the program’s role in cultivating future leaders who will drive effective, collaborative fisheries management throughout Southeast Asia.
