The SEAFDEC Secretariat organized the RES&POA-2030: Regional Workshop on Validation of the Results of Mid-term Review of the Implementation on 19‒20 August 2025 at the SEAFDEC Training Department in Samut Prakan, Thailand. The Workshop was attended by the SEAFDEC National Coordinators and representatives from the ASEAN Member States (AMSs), namely: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand; as well as relevant officers from the SEAFDEC Secretariat and Departments. Chaired by the SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn, the Workshop marked a significant step in assessing the progress of the Regional Plan of Action on Sustainable Fisheries for Food Security for the ASEAN Region Towards 2030 (RES&POA-2030). The aims of the Workshop were to discuss and validate the results of the mid-term review, provide recommendations to enhance the mid-term review report, and share insights on the challenges and best practices.

During the Workshop, the participants acknowledged the progress of the AMS in implementing the RES&POA-2030 through national and regional analyses which highlighted the challenges and best practices. Subsequently, the Workshop agreed to provide additional information and finalized the outline of the mid-term review report. The final draft report will be submitted to the Forty-eighth Meeting of SEAFDEC Program Committee and Twenty-eighth Meeting of the Fisheries Consultative Group of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership in November 2025, then to the Fifty-eighth Meeting of the SEAFDEC Council in 2026.
