SEAFDEC successfully concluded the one-year 2025 Regional Fisheries Policy Network (RFPN) program, hosting eight fisheries officers from ASEAN-SEAFDEC Member Countries.
Established in 2007, the RFPN is a program aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and supporting the development of regional fisheries policies. Based at the SEAFDEC Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand, the 2025 RFPN comprises eight fisheries officers from the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Member Countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
Throughout their tenure, the RFPN members actively participated in SEAFDEC regional meetings, workshops, and training sessions, providing valuable input while also gaining knowledge and enhancing capacity in various fisheries-related areas. They accomplished key tasks, including the development of their respective Fisheries Country Profile and technical article, the organization of knowledge sharing seminars, and a special seminar to exchange knowledge and experience and showcase best practices on specific national challenges, opportunities, and innovative solutions in fishery management.
SEAFDEC extends its appreciation to all RFPN members for their valuable contributions. In recognition of their dedicated efforts, Certificates of Completion were presented to the members at a closing ceremony held on 22 December 2025, which also served as their farewell. It is envisaged that the networking among the members, as well as with SEAFDEC, will continue to be strengthened, with a view to enhancing cooperation and collaboration toward sustainable fisheries development throughout their future careers.
