The Secretary-General of SEAFDEC, Ms. Sampan Panjarat, met with Mr. Noan David Pakop, Director-General of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), during the 19th INFOFISH World Tuna Trade Conference & Exhibition (TUNA 2026), held on 14–16 September 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The meeting explored opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly fisheries science and management, combating IUU fishing, addressing the environmental, ecological, and socioeconomic dimensions of fisheries, and capacity building. The discussion underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between Southeast Asia and the Pacific Island countries to address shared fisheries challenges and promote the sustainable utilization of fisheries resources.
