The SEAFDEC Secretariat welcomed the batch 2025 of the Regional Fisheries Policy Network
(RFPN) members, comprised of eight fisheries officers from the ASEAN Member States, namely:
Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. They are
stationed for a year at the SEAFDEC Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand.
Throughout 2025, the RFPN members participate in several SEAFDEC meetings, trainings, and
workshops to provide technical inputs and share national perspectives. Moreover, the expected outputs
of each RFPN member are fisheries profiles of their respective countries and technical articles.
The RFPN is a one-year program of SEAFDEC with the aim of promoting cooperation among
fisheries officers from the AMSs to support the development of regional fisheries policies. Established
in 2007, the RFPN program has been supported by SEAFDEC-Sweden Project in 2007–2019 and
Japanese Trust Fund from 2007 to present; although it was put on hold in 2019–2024 due to COVID-
19 and insufficient funds.
