SEAFDEC visits Small-Scale Fishers Communities in Trat Province

crabfish1Representatives from SEAFDEC Secretariat and Training Department (TD) visited Small-Scale Fishers Communities in Trat Province, Thailand, from 25 to 28 August 2016 facilitated by the Director of Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) Ms. Ravadee Prasertcharoensuk. With funding support from the SEAFDEC-Sweden Project, the mission observed the small-scale fisheries in the Province and introduced the ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (ACDs) to small-scale fishing communities that target the blue swimming crabs. Results from the observation and discussions would be useful for promoting the feasibility of conducting traceability system in Trat Province. In the future, SEAFDEC will develop a work plan in collaboration with SDF, local officers and fishers to enhance the Blue Swimming Crab Fishery in the Province and also to increase incomes of communities along the coastal areas.
