SEAFDEC participates in the Workshop on Empowering Fisheries Officers for Gender-Responsive and Sustainable Fisheries Management

The SEAFDEC Gender Focal Persons from SEAFDEC Secretariat and Training Department participated in the Workshop on Empowering Fisheries Officers for Gender-Responsive and Sustainable Fisheries Management held from 25 to 26 April 2019 in Iloilo City, Philippines. The Workshop was attended by the Regional Directors, Central Office Division Chiefs, National Center Chiefs, and Regional Planners from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) as well as representatives from the USAID Fish Right Project, USAID Oceans, WWF, and University of Philippines Visayas. The aim of the Workshop was to review BFAR’s Gender and Development action plans and discuss on how it can be implemented and localized. During the Workshop, SEAFDEC presented the lessons and experiences learned from the study on gender in fisheries in pilot countries as well as the principles of the SEAFDEC Gender Strategy.
