In striving as a gender-responsive and gender-sensitive organization, SEAFDEC cordially announces the launching of the SEAFDEC Gender Strategy, which serves as an overarching framework to facilitate the Center’s efforts toward integrating gender in its programs, projects, and activities. The SEAFDEC Gender Strategy is also intended to support the integration of gender perspectives in fisheries and aquaculture of the SEAFDEC Member Countries. The development of the SEAFDEC Gender Strategy was a collaborative effort among the Secretariat and Departments with funding support from the SEAFDEC-Sweden Project.
SEAFDEC has initiated over the past years several human capacity building activities with emphasis on gender in achieving food security and poverty alleviation. SEAFDEC will continue its efforts in addressing gender issues in the fisheries sector through strengthening the understanding of gender dynamics which include interactions between men, women, and youth in the sustainable utilization of fishery resources and conservation and management of aquatic environment.
